Reproduction OE-style large bearing heavy duty disc brake spindles for 1970-73 Ford Mustang. They are manufactured with modern steel alloys for improved durability and strength over the original spindles. These high quality Mustang spindles are powder coated for a long lasting cosmetic appearance and protection from the elements. These new spindles share Ford's original geometry, designed to be coupled with 1970-73 OE-style disc brakes or aftermarket brakes. Sold as a pair
These spindles can also be used on earlier model 1965-69 Mustangs and with most compact and intermediate sized 1960's and 1970's Ford/Mercury vehicles due to common upper and lower ball joint tapers and spindle height. However, the larger spindle pin and outer tie rod taper, redesigned axle flange, and caliper mounts require brake system upgrades for earlier vehicles. OEM disc brakes from 1968-73 with upright-to-steering arm caliper bracket can be used. Granada-style spindle modification required. OEM hubs from 1968-69 must change to 1970-73 wheel bearings with larger 1.377? and.865? bore sizes. The use of 1970-73 Mustang or 1975-80 Granada outer tie-rods or a bumpsteer kit is required. These spindles are popular for use on 1965-73 classic Mustangs and other classic Fords and are considered an excellent upgrade from the smaller disc brake spindles found on the 1965-69 Mustangs. Perfect for those that want to run bigger tires and larger brakes for performance driving.
Note: Installation on 1965-70 Mustang models and other 1970's era Ford/Mercury vehicles requires the 1970-73 outer tie rods, sold separately. 1960-66 six- cylinder models with tie-rod adjusting sleeves measuring.500? OD (1/2-20) must upgrade to V8 style steering system or a late style rack and pinion steering system.
