Corvettes a 'love' affair for Rick Farrow and his family
By Claudio D'Andrea

Rick Farrow appeared in a CBC News video during a Corvette Club of Windsor charity event at the city's waterfront on June 10.

In Rick Farrow's family, Corvettes are a family affair.

"I always kept buying Corvettes," he told CBC News during a 50th anniversary Corvette Club of Windsor charity event in June. "I love 'em. (I) pass them down to my grandchildren and my children." He recalled the first time he fell in love with the vehicle was when he saw a yellow 1973 Corvette, owned by a doctor. When he saw a for sale sign go up on the car, he decided to buy it. Farrow also bought a new 1978 Corvette 10 days before his son was born. "I brought him home from the hospital and said to him that day, 'If you're a good kid, I'll leave this for you.'" When his son was in his early 20s, Farrow gave him that car.

According to the CBC report, Farrow has owned about 10 Corvettes over the past 50 years. Two were on display at the charity event on June 10 and another was at home. Farrow is a founding member of the club, which showcased more than 200 Corvettes at the event. The annual show attracts Corvette owners from the area as well as northern parts of the U.S. The club has raised more than $100,000 to help children undergoing treatment at the Paediatric Oncology Unit at Windsor Regional Hospital, according to media reports. Last year's $26,000 donation was their largest yet, CKNX radio reported.

According to its website, the club's mission is to "to further the awareness of and enjoy our collective association with North America’s only true sports car."
