In the fall of 1991, a group of Corvette owners got together to talk about their cars. They decided to form the Greater Moncton Corvette Club, a group that has since grown to include more than 80 members of Vette owners — men, women and their families.

Club members have been busy over the years, taking day trips to various sites, celebrating special occasions, attending barbecues, raising money for good causes and appearing at car shows throughout Nova Scotia and beyond. Even the pandemic didn’t seem to slow them down, as they have been rolling throughout the province and other places.

In July 2022, for instance, they joined Corvette owners from across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and the U.S. at the Maritime Meet Show in Yarmouth, N.S. Part of Yarmouth Seafest celebrations, the annual event included a Classic Car Cruise.

Club members have also been busy at home at events like the Lounsbury Automotive Group Corvette Show and Shine. Hosted at Lounsbury Chevrolet in Moncton, where club members meet the first Monday of each month, the 2021 event featured about 100 Corvettes and offered prizes to participants.

They also took their cars on the road to points far and near such as Cap-Pelé, Port Elgin, Hillsborough and Saint-Antoine, N.B. Their travels included taking in breathtaking scenery at those locations and discoveries such as the New Brunswick Internment Camp Museum in Minto.

Members have also opened their hearts and wallets for good causes, such as a recent car wash and barbecue to raise money for blood cancer charities where a 2005 Corvette was raffled off in support of the cause. The club has also raised funds for the Autism Resource Centre in Moncton in previous years.

Check out the club’s website and Facebook page.

There’s also a YouTube video of a trip that 13 members took to Percé, Quebec. The three-day trip in August 2011 started out on a rain-soaked day but the next two days were sunny and glorious with magnificent scenery along the way.
