The mid-50's Chevys are great cars, aren't they? Except for the darned wiper system! GM's cable and spool experiment lasted just long enough for their designers to realize that it didn't work. Chevy owners have had to put up with the stretched and broken cables for forty years -- BUT NO LONGER!The RainGear wiper system is a rugged, time tested and proven, lever and link windshield wiper system. It is specifically designed to completely replace the original factory wiper system. The RainGear system will fit all 1955 and 1956 Chevrolet cars with the following known exceptions:The kit comes complete less assembly lube, arms and blades, escutcheons and model-specific knobs for the switch. All those stock pieces will fit on our system. Escutcheons are the exterior trim bezels which cover the pivot posts in the cowl. Note that the original escutcheons are required and are not available as an aftermarket item to the best of our knowledge. Please note that the RainGear unit cannot be controlled by any General Motors column-mounted wiper switches. You must use the included switch. This is due to the fact that GM switches control the wiper motor via the ground wire and our systems must be controlled by switching the positive wire.
